Vacuum Forming Retainer Machine

The Vacuum Former is an economical unit that is perfect for fabricating thermoplastic appliances. It features an all-aluminum construction, a single post design, and a pellet-loaded frame, making it compatible with most thermoplastic materials. This machine is suitable for both the round and square different vacuum former sheet materials.

One of the advantages of this vacuum-forming retainer machine is its special ceramic heating element, which provides more uniform heating. Additionally, its unique rotating frame allows for heating on both sides of the sheets. The cast rack with beads is advantageous when making splints. The CUT-OFF switch ensures that when the machine is not in use for 10 minutes or more, the unit will turn off.

The Vacuum Forming machine offers two plasticizing processes: the conventional and rotary processes, we recommend the conventional method, as the non-rotating procedure makes the job easier.

Non-rotary procedure:

For the conventional plasticizing process, start by raising the sheet support up to the upper limit and turning the vacuum activation handle to the right in the clockwise direction to fasten the unit.
Then, turn the heating unit 180º in the clockwise direction, leaving it completely facing the posterior part of the equipment. Next, put the cast in the double-sided cast rack and place the set in the vacuum chamber. To position the sheet, turn the shorter ring in the anticlockwise direction, remove it, position the sheet, and invert the process to fasten it.
Then, return the heating unit to the initial position (aligned to the sheet support) and activate the main switch to start the heating process. Upon reaching the plasticizing point, turn the vacuum activation handle (right) in the anticlockwise direction to release sheet support and then lower the entire set completely through the two handles until it is inserted in the vacuum chamber and the vacuum will start automatically.
Turn the heating unit again in the clockwise direction to the back part of the equipment and leave the vacuum motor on until the confirmation process is complete, which may take 10 to 20 seconds.
Finally, turn off the main switch and allow the model to cool down. Turn the shorter ring anticlockwise to release the model and remove it.

Application

Commonly used in dentistry to create custom dental appliances, such as mouthguards, splints, and retainers. The machine works by heating a thermoplastic sheet material, until it becomes pliable, and then using a vacuum to form the material over a model of the patient’s teeth.

The process is relatively simple and involves the following steps:

A model of the patient’s teeth is made using a dental impression material.
A thermoplastic sheet is heated in the vacuum-forming machine until it becomes soft and pliable.
The softened sheet of the thermoplastic sheet is then placed over the model of the patient’s teeth.
The vacuum is activated, which sucks the softened thermoplastic sheet down onto the model and forms it into the shape of the patient’s teeth.
The formed thermoplastic sheet is then cooled to harden it into the desired shape.

The resulting dental appliance can be trimmed and polished as needed before being fitted to the patient’s mouth.
